Loren, Graham and James all took a trip to the Apple Store to check out what all the hype was about. After all it's not everyday Apple releases something that less than $1000 and isn't an Ipod or Iphone.

We talk in detail about our intial impressions of the devices and also some of the competition this device has coming.

Nintendo to announce "3DS" @ E3 this year
http://kotaku.com/5499697/nintendo-announces-new-hardware-the-nintendo-3ds
http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/23/nintendo-announces-3ds-the-glasses-free-3d-successor-to-the-d/

  • This is a new series of hardware
  • It will feature backwards compatibility for DS and DSi games
  • Games are "enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses"
  • It will have "highly detailed graphics, and it will be necessary to have a sensor with the ability to read the movements of people playing." - this could be the means by which the "3D effects" are employed, maybe like this game?
  • Unofficial reports suggest that the 3DS will have a parallax barrier 3D LCD, vibration functions, and a "3D Control Stick," however you might imagine that.  The 3D LCD tech is apparently already used in some cell phones, and wouldn't be suitable for larger screens or TVs.
  • It will be launched sometime between April 2010 and March 2011.

We here at DumpsterTech are always happy to hear when a website stops relying on Adobe's buggy and annoying software. (Seriously stop asking to update everytime I boot up... argh!)
